Are you running around like a lunatic right now like I am? This cranberry orange smoothie has saved me so many times in the past few weeks. It’s the only way I’ve been able to eat any breakfast before I head out for my day.
I love a good smoothie. I’ve been drinking them for breakfast for quite some time, but it was time to mix up my ingredients (for a little change of pace). I’ve also changed how I make them.
Making my smoothie in one of those small blenders is how I’ve been doing it for months, but I recently got my hands on an OXO immersion blender and that’s how I’m making my morning smoothie now. I know what you’re thinking…how could an immersion blender make a smoothie out of frozen fruit? Well this one is powerful enough to do just that. One of the things that makes it so powerful is a dial on the top that lets you adjust the speed of the blender blades. So convenient!
I use an immersion blender all the time when I make soups and sauces. But after getting this one from OXO, I tossed my old one. The OXO immersion blender has a silicone shaft, so it doesn’t scratch or dent your pots and pans (unlike my old one). It’s also got a light on it so you can better see what your mixture looks like as you’re blending it up. Which is helpful if your kitchen lighting isn’t especially bright, like mine. It’s also A LOT easier to clean up than the blender (because you can make the smoothie directly in your glass).
But back to this smoothie…
This is a great seasonal smoothie to make because it’s got all the ingredients that are so readily available this time of year: cranberries and those little mandarin oranges that you buy by the bag. It’s got a nice tang that really wakes your taste buds up in the morning and a hit of protein from yogurt and a bit of super food chia seeds.
So start your day off healthily and easily with this cranberry orange smoothie and the OXO On Illuminating Digital Immersion Blender.
