Looking for something light, yet filling for breakfast? This fruit and chocolate Greek yogurt bowl is the perfect breakfast to get you off for your busy day.
I’m a huge fan of plain yogurt and am always looking for new ways to use it. I use it in baking, as a replacement for sour cream in Mexican dishes and eat it straight out of the container. But as delicious as it is on it’s own, it tastes even better if it’s topped with delicious ingredients.
A few months ago I was in New York for a quick little vacation and stumbled across a Chobani yogurt store. They didn’t just sell plain yogurt, but they sold sweet and savory versions of plain yogurt with various topping. The place was packed in the middle of the afternoon.
I couldn’t resist one of their sweet temptations called Pisatchio Chocolate. So I’ve re-created that recipe here for you, but I thought I’d give you an idea of a couple of their other offerings to give you some more ideas for topping your yogurt. I mean, why should you just be stuck topping it with fruit, when it could be so much more.
Another one of their sweet creations is the Blueberry Power. The yogurt is topped with fresh blueberries, chia, pumpkin and toasted sunflower seeds, walnuts and a drizzle of agave nectar.
Or how about the Peanut Butter and Jelly. Yogurt topped with creamy peanut butter, fresh red graps, Concord grape jelly and roasted peanuts.
They also have some savory creations. Mango Avocado has mango, avocado, jalapeño, extra virgin olive oil, fresh cilantro, lime juice and is served with blue corn tortilla chips.
Another popular savory creation is the Spinach Garlic Dip. That’s got spinach and garlic yogurt dip, Kalamata olives, sumac, extra virgin olive oil and simit chips.
These are all great alternatives for that snack you’re craving mid-day when start dragging and need a little pick me up. They’re so easy to throw together the night before and they travel well. So you can take these as a breakfast to eat at your desk or even for that snack you’re dying for.
I’m still making and eating the Pistachio Chocolate yogurt bowl because there’s so many tasty things in it.
So break out of that boring plain yogurt rut and try one of these sweet or savory yogurt bowls.
- 1 5.3 ounce container plain Greek yogurt
- orange segments
- dark chocolate shavings
- clover honey
- mint leaves
- Top the yogurt with pistachios orange segments, chocolate shavings, a drizzle of clover honey and mint leaves.
