Winter Solstice Cocktail

Winter Solstice Cocktail

The Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, but that just gives you more night time to enjoy this crisp winter solstice cocktail.

Late fall and winter is pomegranate time. I love the tart sweet flavor of those little pomegranate seeds (arils). Of course mother nature doesn’t exactly make getting at those seeds all that easy…or at least mess free. There are several tricks to getting them out or you can just be lazy like me and buy a cup of the arils at the store. I consider that a win!

This winter solstice cocktail is a crisp way to celebrate the winter season. I, of course, love the pomegranate flavors in it, but the citrusy notes from the orange liqueur and lime juice round things out perfectly.

I have entered this lovely cocktail recipe in the Stirrings cocktail contest. I used their Simple Pomegranate Martini to bring the pomegranate flavor to the party. Of course I added a few pomegranate arils too.

One of the great things about this cocktail is that you can make it up in big batches. If you’re having a party you can make up a pitcher and set it and forget it. Your guests can help themselves and you actually get to enjoy your party instead of being a bartender all night.

Whip up one of these bright tasting cocktails when this cold winter weather is getting to you. The pomegranate and citrus will definitely perk you up.

Stirrings sent me mixers and glass rimmers as part of this contest.
