Tom Collins Cocktail Recipe

The classic Tom Collins is easy to make and even easier to sip. It’s a bright citrusy cocktail perfect for sipping with appetizers.

This one’s for all you gin lovers out there! Remember that Lemon Drop Cocktail I posted last week? This is basically the gin version of that drink.

I love this little sparkler of a cocktail. It’s bright and fresh and oh so lemony. (One of my favorite flavors in the summer.) The Tom Collins really is very similar to the drink I posted last week, but it’s got a much longer history.

It was first mentioned way back in 1876 and even has a glass named after it. The tall and skinny glass called the Tom Collins (like you see in this picture). But don’t let the lack of a Tom Collins glass keep you from making this refresher. You could just as easily make it in a rocks glass. Hey, those tall and skinny glasses are kinda hard to keep around. I know, I’ve broken 2 of the 4 I once had.

So if you’re jonesing for a a little gin, instead of vodka, whip up a couple of these tasty Tom Collins’. I’ve even used some of the more flowery gins in this cocktail and found it to work out just lovely.
