Doubletree Hotel Chocolate Chip Cookies Copycat Recipe

The Doubletree Hotel serves up these deliciously decadent chocolate chip cookies to its guests. Now you can make these Doubletree Hotel chocolate chip cookies at home.

Many years ago I had a job where I traveled every week, so I stayed in A LOT of hotels. Whenever I traveled to Seattle, I would stay at this one particular Doubletree hotel. Regardless of how late I checked in, the manager would make sure that he had a chocolate chip cookie for me. Yes, they give the cookies to every guest, but when you check in really late, sometimes the cookies are all gone. So the fact that he would save me a cookie was a pretty good deal.

I found this Doubletree hotel chocolate chip cookie recipe online about a bazillion years ago and it’s pretty much the one chocolate chip cookie recipe that I regularly make. Whenever we have guests, I make this recipe and these cookies do not last long. I really like these chocolate chip cookies too, but this Doubletree hotel chocolate chip cookie recipe is my go to recipe.

Making these cookies is really easy. Don’t let the list of ingredients put you off. It might seem a bit daunting but it’s really not. Just gather all your ingredients before you start making these cookies and you’ll be all set.

These cookies turn out the best if you let the dough rest in the refrigerator overnight. I don’t know what it is about all the ingredients coming together better in the refrigerator, but it works. Most of the time I just whip up  the dough and bake right away. The cookies are still dee-licious! They’re just a bit better if you let the dough sit in the fridge overnight.

The kids are back in school, it’s getting cooler outside (not here, but I hear it’s getting cooler in some places) so why not make some chocolate chip cookies? You’re really going to like this recipe, I promise.

Recipe type: Snack
Cuisine: American
Serves: 24
Ingredients
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2¼ cups flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups chopped walnuts
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Add oats to food processor and grind until fine.
  3. Add the oats to a medium sized bowl along with the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Whisk to thoroughly combine the ingredients.
  4. Add the butter, sugars, vanilla and lemon juice to the bowl of your stand mixer or large bowl that you can use with a hand mixer. Cream the ingredients together.
  5. Add the eggs and beat until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine.
  7. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts until well combined.
  8. Spoon ¼ cup of dough onto parchment paper lined baking sheet. I like to use a #2 ice cream scoop for dishing out the dough. Place the scoops roughly 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until cookies are light brown and still soft in the middle.
  10. Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container.
Notes
This recipe turns out best if you refrigerate the dough overnight before baking.

So, you change a few ingredients and suddenly it’s yours? First of all – you scaled the recipe inaccurately from the original. You kept some measurements the same and others not. In fact, I kind of doubt you ever made these from that recipe that you posted. Also, you found it “online” but don’t give credit where credit is due. So you’re just a recipe-stealing blogger like the others.

I didn’t change any of the ingredients and this is the actual recipe that I make…so it does work. I found it online over 15 years ago and wrote the recipe down so I don’t have a source to reference for it. When I can reference a recipe I do so.
