This simple pear tart is a breeze to make and tastes of all the flavors of fall. With cinnamon and maple syrup glaze baked pears never tasted so good.
Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Serves: 1
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, plus more for tart pan
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 Seckle pears, peeled, halved and cored
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup grade B maple syrup
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Butter a 14" rectangular tart pan and set aside.
  3. In a medium sized bowl whisk flour, cinnamon and baking powder together. Set aside.
  4. In a stand mixer cream butter and sugar for 3 minutes. Add egg and beat until well combined.
  5. Slowly add flour mixture to creamed butter. Mix until thoroughly combined. You'll notice that the dough is really soft. It's supposed to be like that.
  6. Add dough to pan and use your fingers to push it around and evenly spread it into the pan and up the sides. You can flour your fingers to do this if you find the dough to be too sticky.
  7. Lay the pear halves onto the dough cut side down.
  8. Sprinkle the top of the tart, and pears, with the brown sugar.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Once you remove the tart from the oven, brush it with the maple syrup.
  11. Serve warm or cooled.
