Home Made Champagne Vinaigrette

Home made champagne vinaigrette is so much better tasting than store bought salad dressing. This simple recipe comes together in a couple of minutes and is better for you than those store bought dressings.

Yep, it’s a new year already. Can you believe how fast last year flew by? I can’t believe how fast the days went between August and December 31. I can’t even tell you what I was doing that made the days go by so quickly…but they sure did.

I’m sure you’ve got yourself a list of new year resolutions (don’t we all?) but I’m trying to make my resolutions fun. I promise to do more things that are fun and that I want to do. I figure, why make my resolutions for things that I don’t really want to do? Or things that I realistically can’t do?

But here’s something I think you should try adding this year. Making your own salad dressings. I know it might sound kinda stupid, but they’re so easy to make and so much better for you than the bottled stuff. They’re much lower in sugar and sodium, for starters. And let’s not forget all the other unpronounceable ingredients in those bottles too.

This champagne vinaigrette uses just a few ingredients, but it’s flavor is massive. It also tastes great on green salads or even grain salads. (One or both of which might be part of your resolutions this year).

Oh, and if you can’t find champagne vinegar (sometimes it’s kind of hard to find), you can sub in white wine vinegar and get something that tastes equally delicious. It’s just not technically called champagne vinaigrette anymore. But who cares? It still tastes great and it’s good for you too.

Recipe type: Salad Dressing
Cuisine: American
Serves: 1
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 medium shallot, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup champagne vinegar
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  1. Add the first 7 ingredients to a bowl.
  2. While whisking, slowly pour in the olive oil and continue whisking to thoroughly combine the ingredients into a nice emulsion.
  3. Serve.
This makes ¾ cup of dressing.

Good recipe! We make a lot of our own salad dressings, but I confess to having a bottle of the commercial stuff in my refrigerator for the times I’m feeling lazy. Good resolution to swear off the store-bought and swear on the homemade. 🙂 Happy New Year!

Thanks John, I sometimes keep a bottle stashed away too. I usually end up throwing it out before I use it all because it expires. LOL
